Or * Two-year degree from an accredited university in human resources, business administration, or related major; 1 year of experience in human resources, management operations, or related professional field. **Core Work Activities** **Manage Recruitment and Hiring Processes** * Assist in interviewing and hiring HR team members with appropriate skills as needed. * Establish and maintain relationships with external recruiting sources. * Participate in job fairs in accordance with HR standard operating procedures and ensure documentation of outreach efforts. * Liaise with local organizations (e.g., hotel associations and colleagues) to identify candidates for current or future vacancies. * Supervise/oversee candidate identification and selection process. * Provide subject matter expertise on selection procedures to hotel managers. * Collaborate with vendor partners to ensure effective advertising of open positions at respective locations to attract a diverse pool of candidates. * Conduct quality control on candidate identification/selection. **Implement and Administer Employee Benefits** * Work with unemployment service providers to respond to unemployment claims; review accuracy of provider reports and correct errors. * Prepare and audit unemployment claim activity reports, and distribute them to hotel management. * Attend unemployment hearings and ensure appropriate hotel representation is arranged. * Ensure departments have the resources available to manage employees. **Administer Employee Development** * Support departmental onboarding programs to provide employees with proper orientation training to successfully perform job responsibilities. * Ensure employees receive cross-training to support successful daily operations. * Utilize all available on-the-job training tools for employees; oversee ongoing training initiatives and conduct training when appropriate. * Ensure coordination and facilitation of new employee orientation programs to create a positive first impression and emphasize the importance of customer service within the company culture. * Ensure all new employees and leadership teams attend training programs. * Collaborate with management teams to ensure departmental onboarding processes are established and employees receive proper orientation training to successfully perform their job duties. **Maintain Employee Relations** * Assist in maintaining effective employee communication channels within the hotel (e.g., conduct daily communications and assist in scheduling regular property-wide meetings). * Review accuracy and consistency of progressive discipline documentation; examine supporting documents and determine appropriate actions. * Apply the "open door" policy to promptly acknowledge awareness of employee issues or concerns. * Ensure employee issues are referred to department managers for resolution, or escalated further to the Director of Human Resources/Multi-Property Human Resources Director. * Collaborate with Loss Prevention as necessary to conduct employee incident investigations. * Communicate performance expectations based on job descriptions for each position. **Manage Legal and Compliance Practices** * Ensure employee files contain required employment documents, appropriate performance management and compensation records, and are properly maintained within required timeframes. * Ensure compliance with procedures for accessing, reviewing, and auditing employee files, and adherence to Privacy Laws. * Ensure medical records are stored separately, securely, and confidentially in medical files. * Advance random, reasonable suspicion, and post-incident drug testing processes (where applicable at the hotel). * Communicate hotel rules and regulations through employee handbooks. * Ensure all safety and security policies (e.g., hotel evacuation, lost and found, bloodborne pathogens, incident reporting, and hygiene) are regularly communicated to employees through orientation, hotel meetings, bulletin boards, etc. * Conduct regular claims reviews with regional claims offices to ensure timely closure of claims and appropriate reserve levels for open claims. * Represent Human Resources on the hotel safety committee; help identify ways to increase awareness of workplace safety importance and reduce frequency and severity of incidents. * Manage workers' compensation claims to ensure proper employee care and cost management. * Supervise the selection/non-selection and hiring processes to ensure proper procedures are followed (e.g., valid reasons for selection/non-selection and applicants receiving status notifications). *Marriott International is committed to being an equal opportunity employer and welcomes everyone to apply for jobs and offers equal employment opportunities.
