Data Network L1 Engineer (MPLS / SD-WAN)

Description

Summary: This role involves 24x7 network health monitoring, incident classification, first-level diagnostics, root cause analysis, and escalation for Internet, MPLS, VPN, and SD-WAN networks. Highlights: 1. Monitor network health 24x7 using NMS/EMS tools 2. Perform first-level diagnostics and root cause analysis 3. Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, MPLS, and SD-WAN Responsibilities: \- Monitor network health 24x7 using NMS/EMS tools to identify Internet, MPLS, VPN, and SD\-WAN alerts. \- Classify alarms by severity and service impact, logging detailed incidents in the ticketing system. \- Perform first\-level diagnostics including ping, traceroute, interface status, and bandwidth utilization checks. \- Determine the root cause category of issues, distinguishing between ISP, access, or hardware faults. \- Escalate complex incidents to L2 support, OEMs, ISPs, or field teams per the escalation matrix. \- Provide regular updates to stakeholders and participate in support bridge calls during network outages. Requirements: \- Strong foundational knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, MPLS, and SD\-WAN. \- Proficiency with network monitoring tools, ticketing systems, and CLI diagnostics. \- Ability to work in a 24x7 shift environment to support continuous network operations. \- Excellent communication skills for documenting shift handovers and coordinating with external vendors. \- Commitment to adhering to SLAs and following established SOPs for compliance.
