Ensures compliance with international standards and ISO requirements QC Laboratory Chemist (Petroleum \& Wax Products) **Location:** Qatar **Industry:** Petrochemicals / Manufacturing **Employment Type:** Full\-Time We are seeking a qualified **QC Laboratory Chemist** to support and execute quality control activities within our chemical laboratory. The role focuses on testing and analysis of **waxes, petroleum jelly, base oils, packing materials, and finished products**, ensuring compliance with international standards, safety regulations, and ISO requirements. The Chemist will work closely with the Plant Manager and R\&D Manager to ensure product quality, safe laboratory operations, accurate reporting, and continuous improvement. Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Testing \& Operations * Perform routine and non\-routine testing of raw materials, in\-process samples, packing materials, and finished products. * Conduct testing related to waxes, petroleum jelly, base oils, lubricants, grease, and bitumen (bonus). * Operate laboratory instruments and ensure proper care, calibration coordination, and maintenance documentation. * Prepare and issue: * Test Reports * Certificates of Analysis (COA) * Safety Data Sheets (SDS) * Product Data Sheets * Maintain proper sample retention, records, and filing systems according to SOPs and ISO requirements. Compliance, Safety \& Quality * Follow and maintain compliance with: * GLP * ISO 9001 / ISO 17025 * GMP * ASTM / IP / DIN / Pharmacopoeia standards (USP, BP, EP, IP) * Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and petroleum samples. * Maintain audit\-ready documentation at all times. * Support investigations of Out\-of\-Specification (OOS) results, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and CAPA implementation. Inventory \& Resource Control * Monitor laboratory consumables, chemicals, glassware, and retain samples. * Ensure sufficient stock availability to support uninterrupted lab operations. Technical Support \& Collaboration * Support formulation guidelines, BOM preparation, and product improvement initiatives. * Assist R\&D team in new product development activities. * Coordinate with production staff to ensure proper sampling methods. * Liaise with third\-party laboratories and service providers (SGS, Intertek, equipment suppliers). Reporting \& Continuous Improvement * Prepare routine test summaries and monthly reports when required. * Participate in continuous improvement and optimization of laboratory procedures. Candidate Requirements * Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field. * Minimum **5–8 years of experience** in QC laboratory operations within petrochemical, wax, lubricant, or related industries. * Strong experience in: * Wax and petroleum jelly testing * ASTM / IP / DIN testing standards * Laboratory instrumentation * Knowledge of: * ISO systems and documentation * GLP / GMP practices * Chemical safety and waste handling * Good documentation, reporting, and organizational skills. * Ability to work independently and in a team environment. * Strong communication skills. Preferred (Advantage) * Experience in lube oil, grease, or bitumen testing. * Exposure to ISO 17025 laboratory environments. * Experience working in manufacturing plants or petrochemical facilities.
