The role includes executing backup and recovery operations, monitoring database performance, supporting applications and systems, and ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with established policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities * Operating and managing databases to ensure efficient and continuous operation. * Monitoring database performance, analyzing issues, and taking corrective actions. * Performing regular backup and recovery operations and testing them periodically. * Monitoring database resource utilization and optimizing performance as needed. * Implementing database updates and patches in coordination with relevant teams. * Supporting data migration and synchronization across different environments. * Managing users and permissions in accordance with information security policies. * Monitoring storage capacity and planning for future expansion. * Resolving technical failures and responding to database-related incidents. * Preparing and updating technical documentation for the database environment and operational procedures. * Collaborating with application development and infrastructure teams to ensure system integration. * Ensuring compliance with data security standards, governance policies, and regulatory requirements. Required Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field. * Two to five years of experience in database operation or administration. * Professional certifications are preferred, such as: * Oracle Database Administration Certification * Microsoft SQL Server Certification * MySQL Database Administration * PostgreSQL Certification (if applicable) Required Skills * Solid knowledge of database management systems such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. * Experience in implementing backup and recovery and performance management. * Proficiency in SQL, including query writing and analysis. * Familiarity with database security concepts and permission management. * Ability to quickly analyze and resolve technical issues. * Technical documentation and reporting skills. * Effective communication and teamwork skills. * Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Operational Responsibilities * Monitoring the daily status of databases and associated services. * Executing scheduled backups and verifying their success. * Monitoring database logs and alerts. * Supporting disaster recovery testing. * Performing routine maintenance procedures per operational plans. * Coordinating with technical support and development teams to resolve operational issues. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) * Database availability rate. * Backup and recovery success rate. * Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR). * Number of unplanned outages or failures. * Database performance against response time metrics. * Compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs). * Data accuracy, integrity, and service continuity. Work Environment * Full-time position. * May require working outside regular business hours to perform scheduled maintenance or address urgent incidents.
