**Role Purpose**
Responsible for all aspects of service in the library, insuring the availability and development of the facility, collection and provision of services to visitors, scholars and museum staff.
**DUTIES \& RESPONSIBILITES**
1\. Public :
Communication / orientation with library visitors
2\. Advisory:
* Supporting Head of Library
* Develop the collection based on gaps in current offer, newly available resources, and any other request or requirement in line with Library policy and strategy.
* Deliver all aspects of public services including but not limited to ensuring the availability of the facility, collections and services to visitors.
* Provide a quality research service to visitors using all available resources, advising on further development etc. – this requires Librarian remain personally up\-to\-date with the collection and other resources in order to give accurate advice.
* Supervises the development and delivery of library programmes in coordination with, and within the framework of, the goals of the museum’s Education division.
* Responsible for determining and delivering reports from library systems such as SirsiDynix Symphony, working with system developers to provide information required in the correct format.
* Develop projects with other libraries such as the National Library, Qatar University and other Education City libraries as directed by the Public Services Librarian or Head of Library.
* Support the Head of Library with recruitment, strategy development and scheduling of staff rotas.
* Manage the circulation desk and it’s staff including checking materials in and out, following up on overdue books, condition checking etc.
* Ensure Health \& Safety measures are adhered to by team, visitors and any contractors on site.
* Supervise and train team Library Assistants and volunteers ensuring that each fulfil their duties as assigned, contribute to appraisals of Library Assistants.
* Undertake training as required and where pertinent to the role, complete tasks outlined and agreed in the Individual Development Plan in a timely manner to support the Museums strategic vision, mission and goals.
* Adhere to all QM and MIA policies and procedures and undertake any other tasks as requested by Head of Library.
**QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS**
▪ Fluent in Arabic and English
▪ In depth knowledge of Library of Congress Cataloguing rules
▪ Knowledge of library processes, systems and professional standards
▪ Ability to use a wide variety of information databases e.g. WorldCat, JSTOR
▪ Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of queries from an equally wide variety of visitors
▪ Ability and willingness to make an equal shifts of evening, weekends and holidays in rotation with other staff.
▪ Bachelor’s degree in library science is essential
▪ Master’s degree in a relevant library\-based subject is desirable
▪ Proven experience of working in a public services capacity
▪ Excellent communication skills
▪ 2 years’ experience in a library position
Job Type: Full\-time
Pay: Up to QAR5,000\.00 per month
