Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and preventive maintenance **Job Title: IT Maintenance TechnicianDepartment** Information Technology / IT Operations **Reports To** IT Manager / Infrastructure Lead **Employment Type** Full\-time / Part\-time / Contract (as applicable) **Job Summary** The IT Maintenance Technician is responsible for the day\-to\-day upkeep, monitoring, and repair of an organization’s IT hardware, software, and network systems. This role ensures that all technology assets remain operational, secure, and up to date, minimizing downtime and supporting end\-user productivity. **Key Responsibilities** Hardware Maintenance * Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and preventive maintenance on desktops, laptops, servers, printers, and peripherals. * Diagnose and repair hardware failures (e.g., hard drives, RAM, power supplies, displays). * Manage inventory of IT equipment, spare parts, and consumables. Software \& System Maintenance * Install, update, and patch operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and productivity software. * Ensure antivirus definitions, security updates, and firmware are current across all devices. Network \& Connectivity Support * Assist in maintaining network equipment (routers, switches, access points, cabling). * Troubleshoot basic connectivity issues (Ethernet, Wi\-Fi, VPN). * Document and label network endpoints and patching info. User \& Helpdesk Support * Respond to maintenance\-related tickets (e.g., slow systems, printer jams, peripheral failures). * Provide basic end\-user guidance to prevent recurring issues. Monitoring \& Documentation * Track system performance, disk space, memory usage, and error logs. * Maintain accurate records of repairs, replacements, and maintenance schedules. * Update internal knowledge base with common fixes and procedures. **Qualifications**Education \& Experience * Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent work experience. * 1–3 years of experience in IT support, desktop support, or computer maintenance. Technical Skills * Hands\-on experience with PC/laptop hardware repair and upgrade. * Familiarity with Windows and macOS environments. * Basic understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP). * Experience with patch management tools and remote support software (e.g., TeamViewer, RDP, ConnectWise). * Ability to use diagnostic tools (multimeters, POST testers, etc.) – a plus. Soft Skills * Strong problem\-solving and analytical skills. * Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. * Good verbal and written communication. * Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or in a team.
