Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve system performance and reliability issues **Commissioning Engineer — Job Description** **Overview** A Commissioning Engineer plans, coordinates, and executes the commissioning, start\-up, testing, and handover of systems and equipment to ensure they operate per design, safety, and performance requirements. **Key responsibilities** * Develop and execute commissioning plans, FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) procedures, and punch‑list management. * Prepare, review, and maintain commissioning documentation: test procedures, checklists, commissioning schedules, commissioning reports, and O\&M handover packages. * Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, HVAC, vendors, contractors) during commissioning and start‑up. * Perform pre\-commissioning activities: inspections, loop checks, functional testing, leak and pressure tests, motor rotation checks, and equipment alignment. * Execute system integration and interlock testing, control system verification (PLC/DCS/SCADA), and I/O point validation. * Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve system performance and reliability issues during commissioning and early operation. * Verify installation against design/specifications and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. * Witness and document performance tests, calibration activities, and commissioning milestones. * Train operations and maintenance teams; deliver handover and operational readiness packages. * Track commissioning progress, manage change requests during start\-up, and report status to project management and stakeholders. * Ensure commissioning activities follow HSE policies and enable safe work practices (permit\-to\-work, lockout/tagout). **Required skills \& qualifications** * Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, or related engineering discipline. * 3–7\+ years’ commissioning, start‑up, or field engineering experience (industrial, power, oil \& gas, manufacturing, utilities, or building systems). * Strong knowledge of electrical systems, control systems (PLC/DCS), instrumentation, and mechanical equipment. * Experience with FAT/SAT procedures, loop testing, control logic verification, and I/O commissioning. * Ability to read and interpret P\&IDs, wiring diagrams, control narratives, datasheets, and technical specifications. * Proficient with commissioning documentation tools and MS Office; familiarity with CMMS desirable. * Strong troubleshooting and fault‑finding skills; hands‑on experience with instrumentation calibration and diagnostics. * Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills. * Commitment to safety and working in accordance with HSE standards. * Willingness to travel to site locations and work flexible hours during start‑up phases. **Nice\-to\-have** * Certifications: Certified Commissioning Professional (CxP), relevant vendor certifications, or electrical/instrumentation trade qualifications. * Experience with building management systems (BMS), HVAC commissioning (Cx) or energy performance testing. * Knowledge of industry standards (IEC, ISA, ASME, NFPA) and local regulatory requirements. * Experience with project management tools, scheduling, and basic programming of PLCs/HMI.
