Monitor compliance with EHS regulations and company standards **HSE Engineer — Job Description** **Overview** An HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Engineer develops and implements programs to prevent injuries, protect worker health, ensure safe operations, and reduce environmental impacts. They support risk assessments, audits, training, and compliance with internal procedures and applicable regulations. **Key Responsibilities** * Develop, implement, and maintain HSE plans, procedures, and risk\-control measures for projects/operations. * Conduct and review risk assessments (JHA/JSA), job hazard analyses, and support permit\-to\-work processes. * Perform site inspections, audits, and observations; track corrective actions to closure. * Support incident/near\-miss investigations; perform root cause analysis and drive CAPA. * Monitor compliance with applicable EHS regulations, permits, and company standards. * Oversee safety engineering activities such as hazard identification, barrier reviews, and safety critical processes (role\-dependent). * Support contractor HSE management: onboarding, safety performance monitoring, and enforcing requirements. * Manage environmental controls: spill prevention, waste management practices, emissions/noise controls (as applicable). * Review and approve method statements, risk controls, and HSE deliverables for work execution. * Provide HSE reporting: KPIs, trends, dashboards, and management updates. * Coordinate HSE training and toolbox talks; verify competency for high\-risk activities. * Support emergency preparedness and response planning and drills. **Required Qualifications** * Bachelor’s degree in Health, Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering/technical discipline (or equivalent experience). * Demonstrated experience in HSE roles in industrial environments (industry varies). * Working knowledge of relevant safety and environmental legislation/standards in your region. * Ability to conduct investigations, write reports, and manage corrective actions. * Strong knowledge of risk assessment methods (e.g., JHA/JSA, RCA). * Excellent communication skills and ability to influence at all levels. **Preferred Qualifications** * Relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent, CSP/CHS/EHS certifications depending on region). * Experience with major hazards / high\-risk industries (oil \& gas, construction/EPC, utilities, manufacturing). * Training in environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001\) and/or safety management systems (e.g., ISO 45001\). * Experience managing audits, contractors, and permit\-to\-work systems. * Familiarity with specific hazards: LOTO, confined space, working at height, hot work, lifting operations.
