The Quality Control Specialist in a slaughterhouse is responsible for ensuring that all meat processing activities comply with food safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies. Key responsibilities include:
* Performing regular inspections of incoming livestock, production processes, and finished products.
* Monitoring and inspecting hygiene and sanitation practices within the facility.
* Conducting routine sampling and testing of products for microbial, chemical, and physical hazards.
* Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including USDA, FDA, and other relevant food safety standards.
* Maintaining up\-to\-date knowledge of regulatory changes and implementing necessary adjustments in processes and procedures.
* Preparing for and participating in audits conducted by regulatory agencies.
* Maintaining accurate and detailed records of inspections, tests, and audits.
* Documenting and reporting any non\-conformities or deviations from quality standards.
* Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to quality assurance and food safety.
* Identifying areas for improvement in production processes and implementing corrective actions.
* Providing training and support to staff on quality assurance procedures and best practices.
* Responding to quality issues or product recalls promptly and effectively.
* Conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures to avoid recurrence. **1**
