Communicate with guests/clients to resolve maintenance issues. Perform preventive maintenance on kitchen tools and machinery room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines. Transport equipment (e.g., tools, radio). Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and all main service disconnect switches for buildings. Maintain a maintenance inventory and request parts and supplies as necessary. Communicate daily activities and problems to employees on other shifts using appropriate communication programs and standards. Demonstrate knowledge or basic aptitude to acquire knowledge in the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electricity, mechanics, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building management. Perform surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood repairs, replacement of light bulbs and air conditioner filters, and thorough cleaning of paint or repair areas. Test, diagnose malfunctions, and perform basic repairs on all types of equipment, plumbing (e.g., unclogging toilets and drains), electrical components including lamps, cosmetic elements, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, replacing switches and outlets, and other guest room items. Program televisions and perform general engineering-related maintenance and inventory tasks. Use Lockout/Tagout procedures before performing maintenance work. Perform repairs on indoor and outdoor gardens as well as exterior garden irrigation systems. Demonstrate basic knowledge in computer operations including inputting schedules into the air control system and changing temperatures. Comply with all company safety policies and procedures; report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and properly store flammable materials. Ensure both uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain property information confidentiality and protect company assets. Greet and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guest service needs, assist people with disabilities, and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Ensure compliance with quality expectations and standards. Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with others, support team members in achieving common goals, and listen to and appropriately respond to concerns from other employees. Speak clearly and professionally to others. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 50 pounds (22.7 kg) or less without assistance, as well as lift heavier weights or perform tasks involving movement without help. Climb up and down stairs, service ramps, or ladders. Reach above head and below knees, including bending, twisting at the waist, pulling, and leaning. Enter and retrieve job-related information using computers. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Education: High school diploma or equivalent certification from a General Educational Development (GED) program or vocational/technical training certificate preferred. Relevant Work Experience: Experience in general maintenance, interior and exterior surface preparation, and painting. Hotel engineering/maintenance experience is valued. Supervisory Experience: Supervisory experience not required.
