Summary: An observant Lifeguard ensures the safety of aquatic facility visitors by enforcing rules, maintaining order, responding to emergencies, and maintaining cleanliness and equipment. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of all aquatic areas. **What’s the job?** An observant Lifeguard will ensure the safety of visitors to our aquatic facility. The Lifeguard will explain safety rules to patrons, warn them about unsafe situations, and enforce policies on showers and proper attire. You will play an instrumental role in maintaining orderliness by inspecting swimming pool areas, locker rooms and restrooms. You will maintain pool equipment, and monitor and record pool temperatures. **Promote the desired work culture by living the 5 winning ways value –** ***Do the Right thing, Show we care, Aim Higher, Celebrate Difference, Work better together.*** **General Duties.** * Overseeing activities at the aquatic facility. * Explaining and enforcing rules, regulations, and policies to ensure the safety of patrons. * Monitoring designated areas to recognise signs of danger. * Warning swimmers regarding unsafe situations. * Maintaining order in swimming areas. * Responding to emergencies and rescuing swimmers in danger of drowning. * Performing first aid procedures. * Maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of all areas. * Maintaining records and reports. * Have a full understanding of all pool activities, prices, and terms and conditions. * Have knowledge of the in\-house treatments to be able to recommend additional services to guests. * Teach correct swimming techniques, strokes, and water safety practices. * Contribute to reaching the spa targets and work towards achieving their individual targets. * Be flexible with scheduling to accommodate the guest. * If it is safe to do so, assist with the cleanliness of the female and male changing rooms and the gym * If it is safe to do so, assist with the collection and dropping of linen * Contribute to all matters that will assist in operations at the Manager's request. * The above\-mentioned responsibilities are not limited, and additional responsibilities can be added by the management at any time. **General Duties.** **Day\-to\-Day Duties.** As stipulated in the Life Guard Job Description, these are the Lifeguards' Duties and Responsibilities. **Lifeguards' main role is prevention**. They must know how to anticipate situations and what to do, especially in cases of emergency: · Licensed for the Lifeguard position as per the local authorities' standards. · Certified and licensed First Aider. · Trained regularly in accordance to the standards. · Present and on time at the area of responsibility designated by the Supervisors. Absences or leave must be arranged with superiors. Failure of compliance will be dealt with accordingly. · Knowledgeable when asked about the Hotel and the Property itself. · Grooming standards should be strictly followed to ensure good personal hygiene. · Should be consistent in compliance with the Rules and Regulations of the hotel. · Breaks should only be 1 hour or as assigned by the supervisor, and not leave for a break without a Life Guard reliever assigned. · Briefings must be done daily and shift handover with other Life Guards. · Incidents must be reported to the Supervisors and Management immediately. · Lifeguards must know the Assembly point areas, emergency phones, extinguishers, hose and other Fire equipment, First Aid boxes and Lifeguard equipment where they are easily reached, and the Lifeguard must be capable of using them. · Lost items will be reported to the Supervisors and the team, and he who finds the lost item will be the one to hand it over to the Housekeeping Department at the end of their shift; they cannot leave their station to hand over any item to Security. · Mobile phones are not allowed during duty hours at all. · Handover should be done properly by lifeguards to ensure clear information before, during and after the shift. · If unsure of giving out information, questions should be addressed to the Supervisors. · When finishing the shift, Lifeguards must inform the Supervisor before leaving their post. · Lifeguards must monitor kids whilst in the Pool and remind their accompanying adults to remain with them at all times. · Lifeguards should move around the pool and not stay only in one area. · Lifeguards should avoid unnecessary chatting during their time of duty. Personal chats should be done only during breaks. · Gathering together in groups when on duty at the Pool is strictly not allowed. · Lifeguards must know how to escalate emergencies and how to respond to such incidents in the Pool · Before leaving the area of responsibility, final checking of ALL pool areas must be done and ensure there are no guests/patrons, including any other staff are present. · Ensure the access door to the pool is locked.
