Summary:
The Project Engineer is responsible for engineering and technical duties on contracts, including method writing, quality control, resource management, and site supervision.

The Project Engineer will be responsible for the engineering and or technical duties on a contract including the writing of methods, programs, statements, etc.
**Main Roles \& Responsibilities**
· Responsible for the accurate setting out of all elements in the designated area and ensuring accurate interface with surrounding areas;
· Maintain stipulated quality control systems – fill in and sign the respected Trade quality control sheets and requests for inspection and maintain orderly records;
· Responsible for concrete quality – correct formwork erection, concrete placement and vibration, curing and cosmetic patching if required;
· Establish and maintain concrete cube testing system – according to established specifications;
· Direct control of Foremen within their Area (Site) – lead and motivate them;
· Direct control of labor in their Area (Site) – timeous arrival at the workplace in the morning and after stipulated breaks, productivity, correct methods of construction and use of tools, motivation and resolution of problems;
· Ensure labor correctly inducted on arrival, wearing personal protective equipment;
· Control of foremen \& labor (normal \& overtime) – plan work efficiently;
· Check on timekeepers and sign clock cards on a monthly basis.
· Liaison with Area and Project managers, coordinators and consultants with respect to information required. Study drawings and determine suitability of information and generate RFI’s timeously;
· Compliance with safety regulations – appointed as responsible person for the project site;
· Completely responsible for housekeeping and waste control in the project site;
· Liaison with all sub\-contractors working in their Area (Site) to ensure accurate, timeous interface and adherence to program. Study sub\-contractors’ details and determine correct sequence;
· Control of internal sub\-contractors (carpentry, steel fixing \& masonry) to ensure maximum efficiency of production without financially affecting the project.
· Short to medium term planning – prepare daily, weekly and monthly plans;
· Ensure sufficient resources available to meet the program – plant \& equipment, specific materials required, concrete, formwork and reinforcing. Place Site requisitions timeously.
Ensure there is proper control of the site store – ensure accurate records kept and stock levels maintained.
**Knowledge:** Knowledge in the use of MS Project, Primavera, MS Office and AutoCAD.

**Educational Qualifications:** Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent
