




General Responsibilities: * Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot all radio and communication equipment including VHF, HF, satellite systems (Inmarsat, FleetBroadband), and emergency distress channels (e.g., Channel 16\). * Maintain continuous watch on distress frequencies and coordinate emergency communication procedures during incidents such as man overboard, medical evacuations, or fire. * Record all transmissions, compile daily logs, and generate communication activity reports. * Facilitate communication with support vessels, helicopters, shore bases, and emergency services. * Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and testing of radio equipment and antennas. * Coordinate personnel movements, supply runs, helicopter arrivals/departures, and personnel transfers. * Respond promptly to emergency situations and activate the vessel’s emergency communication protocols. * Ensure compliance with maritime and international communication regulations, including GMDSS standards. * Keep up\-to\-date with operational procedures, safety protocols, and crew training on communication systems. Job Requirements: * Should have 6 months’ experience in a communications position in the marine industry. * The candidate must have knowledge of helicopter operations. * A valid General Operator GMDSS certificate * a valid basic safety training course (survival course), including HUET as applicable
