Opportunity to expand careers and specialize in a specific area. **JOB DESCRIPTION** ***Department:***General Practitioner ***Organizational Relationship:*** *Reports to:* Chief Executive Officer (CEO) *Liaise to:* Chief Operations Officer (COO) HR \& Administration Department Medical Department ***Job Summary:*** A general practitioner (GP) or family doctor provides the principal and continuing medical care for patients and is usually the first contact for patients needing health and medical services. As such, general practitioners are not limited to one branch of medicine. They are responsible for performing checkups, diagnosing illnesses, giving recommendations, making a preliminary diagnosis, and referring the patient to a specialist for further assessment or treatment if needed. General practitioners usually put up specialist clinics alongside other health care professionals within the practice for patients with specific conditions. Partners in a practice may also expand their careers and specialize in a specific area of medicine ***Roles and Responsibilities:*** * Inspecting and updating patients' charts. * Diagnosing common ailments such as colds, flu, and diabetes. * Administering medication topically, orally, and via intravenous or intramuscular injections. * Prescribing apt medications and lifestyle alterations. * Collecting fluid and tissue samples and sending these to laboratories for further testing. * Referring patients to specialists for further testing and treatment, if needed. * Creating and issuing invoices to private clients. * Submitting claims on behalf of patients who have health insurance. * Anticipating and responding to patients' wellness\-related questions and concerns. ***Education and Qualifications:*** * Medical Degree. * Successful completion of a 3\-year residency training program. * Registration with an appropriate health professions board. * Proven experience as a General Practitioner. * Adherence to health and ethical codes, including when under duress. * Attendance at medical conferences. * Personable, supportive disposition. * Strong ability to triage and multitask. * Excellent administrative skills. ***Other Requirements:*** Willingness to work overtime or on\-call as required.
