Ensures maximum equipment reliability and power supply **Job Summary** The Generator Technician is responsible for the installation, operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of diesel and gas\-powered generators, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), synchronization panels, and associated electrical and mechanical systems. The role ensures uninterrupted power supply and maximum equipment reliability while complying with company policies, manufacturer recommendations, and HSE standards. Key Responsibilities: * Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on diesel and gas generators. * Inspect engine, alternator, control panel, battery, cooling, fuel, and exhaust systems. * Change engine oil, coolant, filters, and belts as per the maintenance schedule. * Maintain accurate preventive maintenance records. * Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults. * Repair or replace defective components including: * Starter motors * Alternators * Fuel injectors * Water pumps * Radiators * Batteries * Governors * Sensors * AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) * Carry out engine overhauls when required. * Start, stop, and monitor generators safely. * Conduct routine operational checks. * Monitor fuel consumption, oil pressure, coolant temperature, battery voltage, frequency, and output voltage. * Ensure proper synchronization of multiple generators where applicable. * Inspect and test Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS). * Troubleshoot generator control panels. * Test emergency power transfer systems. * Maintain synchronization panels and generator controllers (e.g., Deep Sea, ComAp, SmartGen). * Measure voltage, current, frequency, insulation resistance, and earth continuity. * Test alternator performance. * Perform load bank testing. * Identify and rectify electrical faults. * Respond promptly to generator breakdowns. * Restore emergency power with minimal downtime. * Provide on\-call support when required. * Prepare maintenance reports. * Maintain service history and inspection records. * Record spare parts usage. * Update maintenance logs and checklists. * Monitor stock levels of consumables and spare parts. * Raise material requests for replacement components. * Ensure proper storage of tools and spare parts. * Follow Lock\-Out/Tag\-Out (LOTO) procedures. * Use appropriate PPE during maintenance activities. * Maintain housekeeping standards in generator rooms. * Report unsafe conditions and incidents immediately. **Qualifications** * Diploma or ITI in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. * Technical certification in generator maintenance is an advantage. **Experience** * 3–5 years of experience in generator installation, maintenance, and repair. * Experience with diesel generators ranging from **20 kVA to 2000 kVA**. * GCC/Qatar experience is preferred. * Experience in facilities management, construction, oil \& gas, or industrial sectors is an advantage.
