Job Purpose
The AC Technician is responsible for the **operation, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and servicing of air\-conditioning and HVAC systems** within residential, commercial, and other facilities. The role requires ensuring that all AC equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved maintenance procedures and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out **preventive and corrective maintenance** of air\-conditioning and HVAC equipment.
* Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain AC systems and components.
* Perform servicing and maintenance of **split AC, package units, VRF/VRV systems, FCU, AHU, cassette units, and ducted AC systems**.
* Check and maintain compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves, motors, thermostats, filters, belts, bearings, and other HVAC components.
* Carry out **refrigerant charging, recovery, leak detection, and pressure testing** as required.
* Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults in air\-conditioning systems.
* Check and maintain electrical components including contactors, capacitors, relays, overloads, isolators, and control circuits.
* Clean and replace AC filters, coils, drain pans, and other components as required.
* Inspect and clear condensate drain lines and ensure proper drainage.
* Monitor temperature, pressure, current, voltage, and other operating parameters.
* Attend breakdown and emergency maintenance calls and restore equipment to normal operation within the required response time.
* Carry out routine inspections and identify potential equipment failures before breakdown occurs.
* Maintain proper records of preventive maintenance, breakdowns, repairs, spare parts, and equipment condition.
* Complete maintenance checklists, work orders, service reports, and other required documentation.
* Coordinate with the Facility Engineer, HVAC Supervisor, and other maintenance technicians.
* Follow approved preventive maintenance schedules and maintenance procedures.
* Ensure all tools, equipment, and spare parts are used properly and maintained in good condition.
* Maintain cleanliness of work areas after completing maintenance activities.
* Follow all **HSE requirements, permit\-to\-work procedures, lockout/tagout procedures, and client/site safety rules**.
* Ensure compliance with company policies and facility maintenance standards.
* Respond professionally to client and occupant complaints related to AC and indoor comfort.
* Perform other HVAC and maintenance\-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Technical Skills \& Competencies
* Good knowledge of **HVAC and refrigeration systems**.
* Strong troubleshooting and fault\-finding skills.
* Knowledge of electrical and mechanical components of AC systems.
* Ability to read basic HVAC drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
* Knowledge of refrigerant handling and charging procedures.
* Ability to use HVAC testing and diagnostic tools such as:
* Manifold gauge
* Multimeter
* Clamp meter
* Vacuum pump
* Refrigerant recovery machine
* Temperature measuring instruments
* Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.
* Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Required Experience
* **3–5 years of relevant experience** as an AC/HVAC Technician.
* Previous experience in **Facility Management / Building Maintenance** is highly preferred.
* Experience in commercial buildings, residential buildings, hotels, malls, hospitals, offices, or similar facilities will be an advantage.
* Candidates with **GCC/Qatar experience** are preferred.
* Experience with **VRF/VRV systems, AHU, FCU, package units, and split AC systems** is preferred.
Education \& Certification
* ITI / Diploma / Technical Certificate in **HVAC, Refrigeration \& Air Conditioning, or Mechanical Engineering**.
* Relevant HVAC/refrigeration certification is an advantage.
* Valid Qatar driving license is an advantage, where applicable.
