Diagnose complex mechanical and electrical faults using advanced tools **Job Description:** The Senior Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, servicing, and repair of the company’s fleet vehicles to ensure maximum vehicle availability, reliability, safety, and operational efficiency. The position involves supervising mechanics and workshop staff, coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, maintaining accurate service records, and ensuring that all repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standards. **Key Responsibilities:** ➢ Conduct regular inspection, servicing, preventive maintenance, and repair of company vehicles. ➢ Diagnose mechanical, electrical, electronic, braking, suspension, steering, transmission, cooling, and other vehicle\-related faults using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment. ➢ Identify the root cause of vehicle breakdowns and recommend appropriate corrective action. ➢ Ensure all vehicles are maintained in safe, roadworthy, and operational condition. ➢ Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance as per manufacturer recommendations and company maintenance schedules. ➢ Attend to emergency vehicle breakdowns and coordinate timely repairs to minimize vehicle downtime. ➢ Supervise and allocate daily repair and maintenance jobs to mechanics and workshop staff. ➢ Inspect completed repair work and ensure that all jobs are carried out properly before releasing the vehicle for operation. ➢ Conduct final quality checks and road tests, where required, before returning vehicles to service. ➢ Maintain accurate records of vehicle servicing, repairs, replacement parts, labor, breakdowns, and maintenance history. ➢ Update service logs with details of repairs, parts used, labor hours, and other relevant information. ➢ Ensure timely replacement of worn\-out components, lubricants, filters, belts, batteries, tyres, brake components, and other consumables. ➢ Monitor the condition and performance of vehicles and identify recurring mechanical problems. ➢ Coordinate with the Fleet Supervisor regarding vehicles requiring major repairs, external workshop support, or specialized technical services. ➢ Liaise with external garages, suppliers, and service providers when repairs or technical services cannot be completed internally. ➢ Verify the quality and suitability of spare parts and materials before installation. ➢ Ensure proper handling, storage, and control of tools, equipment, spare parts, and workshop materials. ➢ Monitor workshop tools and equipment and report any damaged, missing, or defective items. ➢ Ensure proper housekeeping and cleanliness within the garage and workshop area. ➢ Strictly follow company policies, workshop procedures, occupational health and safety requirements, and applicable regulatory standards. ➢ Ensure mechanics use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe working practices. ➢ Report major mechanical defects, accidents, safety concerns, and vehicle\-related incidents to the Fleet Supervisor promptly. ➢ Assist in investigating recurring vehicle breakdowns and recommend preventive measures. ➢ Maintain proper maintenance schedules to ensure vehicle availability and minimize operational disruption. ➢ Coordinate with Logistics and Operations teams to prioritize vehicle repairs based on operational requirements. ➢ Monitor vehicle downtime and take necessary action to reduce unnecessary delays. ➢ Assist the Fleet Supervisor in evaluating vehicle maintenance costs and identifying opportunities for cost reduction. ➢ Ensure efficient utilization of spare parts, lubricants, tools, and workshop resources. ➢ Provide technical guidance and support to junior mechanics and workshop staff. ➢ Train and coach mechanics on proper repair methods, diagnostic procedures, safety practices, and preventive maintenance. ➢ Ensure that manufacturer\-recommended maintenance procedures and technical specifications are followed. ➢ Maintain proper documentation for warranty\-related repairs and coordinate with authorized service centers where applicable. ➢ Assist in preparing technical reports relating to vehicle breakdowns, major repairs, recurring defects, and maintenance requirements. ➢ Ensure compliance with applicable Qatar vehicle safety, inspection, and roadworthiness requirements. ➢ Support the Fleet Supervisor during vehicle inspections, annual testing, and other regulatory requirements. ➢ Carry out any other duties and responsibilities reasonably assigned by the Fleet Supervisor / Management.
