Coordinate with project stakeholders and supervise installations **Job Description: Electrical Engineer – Fire Alarm Systems** **Position Summary** The Electrical Engineer – Fire Alarm Systems is responsible for the design, engineering, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of fire alarm and life safety systems. The role ensures that all systems comply with applicable fire safety codes, electrical standards, project specifications, and client requirements. **Key Responsibilities** * Design fire alarm systems in accordance with project specifications and applicable codes and standards. * Prepare fire alarm layouts, wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, and shop drawings using AutoCAD and other engineering software. * Perform device placement, battery calculations, voltage drop calculations, and cable sizing. * Select appropriate fire alarm control panels, detectors, notification appliances, and associated equipment. * Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, consultants, contractors, and clients during project execution. * Review technical specifications, drawings, and tender documents. * Supervise installation activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings and safety regulations. * Conduct system testing, inspection, troubleshooting, commissioning, and final acceptance testing. * Prepare as\-built drawings, operation manuals, testing reports, and project documentation. * Ensure compliance with NFPA 72, local fire codes, electrical standards, and authority requirements. * Provide technical support during project execution and after project handover. * Assist in project planning, scheduling, material estimation, and cost control. **Qualifications** * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. * 2–5 years of experience in fire alarm system design, installation, or commissioning (experience requirements may vary by employer). * Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications. * Knowledge of addressable and conventional fire alarm systems. * Familiarity with NFPA 72, IEC standards, and local fire safety regulations. * Experience with leading fire alarm systems such as Honeywell, Notifier, Siemens, Edwards, Bosch, or similar manufacturers is preferred. **Skills** * Strong knowledge of fire alarm and life safety systems. * Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills. * Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications. * Strong communication and coordination skills. * Effective project management and organizational abilities. * Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety. **Preferred Certifications** * Professional Engineer (PE) registration (where applicable). * NFPA or manufacturer\-specific fire alarm training and certifications. * Health and safety certifications relevant to construction or engineering projects.
