Interested candidates may send their CVs, mentioning the position applied for in the subject line. to: hr@velqatar.com **Job Title: Design Engineer (SCS \& Telecom)** **Requirement – 1 No.** **Qualifications \& Requirements:** **Education:** Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, or Electrical Engineering. **Experience:** 5 to 7\+ years of experience in an EPC environment, specifically handling SCS and Telecom design for utility substations up to the 400kV level. **Technical Knowledge:** Strong understanding of gateway data mapping, IEC 61850 protocols, and standard telecommunication practices for the power sector. Familiarity with local utility network standards is highly preferred. **Key Responsibilities:** **Substation Control Systems (SCS):** * Design, configure, and modify SCS architectures for high\-voltage substations up to 400kV. * Integrate Bay Control Units (BCUs) and ensure all critical substation alarms, controls, and status signals are accurately mapped to the National Control Center (NCC) and Emergency NCC (ENCC). * Support End\-to\-End testing between the substation and the control centers to verify reliable data transmission. **Telecommunication \& Fiber Optics:** * Plan the routing, termination, and splicing of Fiber Optic networks, including 48\-fiber approach cables and Optical Ground Wires (OPGW). * Coordinate and oversee Fiber Optic End\-to\-End testing between different substations to ensure robust communication links. * Design structured cabling systems to support IP telephony and secure communications across the substation buildings. **System Integration \& Upgrades:** * Knowledge of multi\-vendor control systems (including Siemens, ABB, Areva, and GE) to upgrade existing substations without disrupting live grid operations. * Integrate advanced monitoring networks, such as Digital Fault Recording Systems (DFRS) and online Dissolved Gas Analyzers (DGA) for transformers. * Configure secure network routers and firewalls to connect local substation data safely to central monitoring servers. **Vendor Coordination \& Documentation:** * Review and assess vendor drawings, technical submittals, and equipment manuals to ensure they strictly align with the project's design intent and utility specifications. * Coordinate technical clarifications directly with relay and equipment manufacturers to resolve design discrepancies before manufacturing and delivery.
