Engage in critical system monitoring and troubleshooting **Systems Administrator — Job Description** **About the role** Systems Administrator responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining servers, storage, virtualization, and core IT services to ensure reliable, secure, and performant infrastructure. **Key responsibilities** * Install, configure, and maintain Linux and Windows servers, hypervisors, and storage systems. * Manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper\-V, KVM) and container hosts (Docker). * Administer Active Directory/Azure AD, DNS, DHCP, and group policy; manage user accounts and permissions. * Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions; perform restores and regular recovery testing. * Monitor system performance and capacity; tune systems and plan for growth. * Deploy, patch, and maintain operating systems and critical applications; enforce patch management. * Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, and basic network routing in collaboration with networking teams. * Maintain logging, monitoring, and alerting systems (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/open search). * Troubleshoot hardware, OS, and application\-level incidents; perform root cause analysis and document resolutions. * Automate routine tasks using scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) and configuration management (Ansible, Chef, Puppet). * Ensure security best practices: least privilege, hardening, vulnerability scanning, and incident response support. * Maintain system documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures. * Support onboarding/offboarding for systems access and resource provisioning. **Required qualifications** * 3–5\+ years systems administration experience with Windows and Linux servers. * Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper\-V, or KVM) and storage systems. * Strong AD/Azure AD, DNS, DHCP, and group policy experience. * Knowledge of backup/restore technologies and disaster recovery planning. * Proficiency in shell scripting or PowerShell; experience with automation/configuration tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef). * Familiarity with monitoring and logging solutions. * Solid troubleshooting and incident handling skills. * Understanding of networking fundamentals and basic firewall/VPN configuration. * Good documentation, communication, and teamwork skills. **Preferred qualifications** * Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, CompTIA Server\+, RHCSA/RHCE, VMware VCP. * Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid deployments. * Experience with IaC tools (Terraform) and container orchestration (Kubernetes). * Familiarity with compliance/security frameworks (SOC2, PCI, HIPAA) and related tooling. * Exposure to SRE practices, CI/CD, or platform engineering.
